In language or presentation-based courses, the process of recording and sharing online video can be expedited using a new module called VideoBoard. The module, developed by the presenters, is designed to seamlessly upload video files captured with an iPad directly to a Moodle course. The module incorporates self- and peer-evaluation grids that can be customized using Moodle’s new criteria-based assessment tool called rubrics.
Using the VideoBoard module, together with the integrated iPad app, video files can be shared within a Moodle course via the VideoBoard activity where students and instructors share, evaluate, and comment on the video postings. Furthermore, each video posting is evaluated using rubrics that can be defined in advance by the teacher, providing richer and hopefully more useful feedback to the learner. This presentation will demonstrate the mobile app in use and discuss how this module can be utilized in speaking-focused classes as well as in other CALL classes.
