Presentation abstract 発表内容
This presentation shows how a complete newcomer to Moodle can install and run a webserver in their own home or school office to handle 200 students. In this presentation, I will cover seven points:
1. Plan necessary hardware and estimate running cost: Which hardware I need to run my server? How much will it cost per month?
2. Install Ubuntu server software and hardware with an easy graphic user interface.
3. Make basic settings of Apache and MySQL: Apache controls our server and MySQL provides the database for our Moodle.
4. Obtain domain name and DNS service: After we have set up the software for running the server we want to communicate with the Web.
5. Install Moodle: Installation of Moodle with the software, “GIT” makes it easy to update with new Moodle versions.
6. Setup the email-system to send out notifications and postings.
7. Prepare safety precautions such as backup systems and security settings
My intention is to create a forum for people who want to have their own small Moodle server and to share practical solutions for running the system. Handouts and a link to my homepage with downloads will be provided.
