発表の題名: Six reasons why U. S. higher institutions prefer Moodle over Google Classroom 発表の種類: Presentation (40 mins) プレゼンテーション(40分) 発表の言語: English 英語 発表のキーワード: LMS, course and data management, site administration, data privacy and security, system integration 発表の要約: Although Google Classroom has been enthusiastically adopted by many American high schools, less than 4 percent of higher institutions in the U. S. use it as their primary Learning Management System (LMS), opting instead to maintain their 'closed' LMS such as Blackboard or Moodle. Why is this adoption rate among U. S. higher institutions so low? Using site screenshots, images, and slides, this presentation will outline 6 reasons why U. S higher institutes prefer using a 'closed' LMS such as Moodle over using Google Classroom. During this presentation each of these LMS platforms is analyzed in relation to their teaching effectiveness, course and data management, site administration, data privacy and security, interoperability with student information systems, and integration with other systems. There will be a question and answer time at the end of this presentation, where participants can discuss points raised, or ask for further clarification. The slide presentation will utilize a lot of images to help aid understanding of the points being discussed. |

Feedback I think it is very positive that Moodle MOOT delegates are exposed to the features and capabilities of other learning platforms. Moodle competitors are not frequently discussed at the Japan MOOT, so this represents an unique opportunity. Peer Review 2Criteria | Assessment |

Feedback Although it is important to know how Moodle compares with alternate LMSs, this abstract seems to take a rather Google Classrooms centric approach. Also, Blackboard and Moodle appear to be lumped together as similar systems, though there is also a significant market share difference between them in the US and globally. Making it a little more Moodle centric may increase the relevance to moot participants. Peer Review 3Criteria | Assessment |

Feedback The focus of a Moot is to introduce the Moodle system, modifications, usage scenarios, etc. I do not understand how the content, proposed here, fits into the intended purpose of a Moodle Moot. Additionally, the use of the term "closed" is confusing. As Moodle is an Open Source package, modifiable by anyone who choses to do so, it is more often described to be "open" opposed to systems like Google Classroom that are not modifiable by the user. The overall goal of this presentation is not clear and requires serious overall to be applicable to a Moodle Moot. |
