Presentation abstract: presentation_abstract This presentation showcases the best open courseware available in Japan from the past five years. In addition, this is an MAJ R& D R&D grant report on the progress of development of Showcase website and a workshop where participants can upload their favorite course for open sharing. In 2020, the MAJ Showcase will combine both Innovations Awards and Open Courseware Awards in one site and support Japan national association course sharing with the global MoodleNet community. Participants in this course, will have the opportunity to learn five easy steps to upload a course into the Showcase during the presentation. In addition, we will explain the three specific programing objectives for improving the Showcase for this year: 1. Download Counting Block and Subject-specific course promotion This block provides a listing of courses based on the amount of downloads, including top ten downloads, top ten science and math courses, top ten highly reviewed courses, and courses just added. This requires metadata fields and upload metadata form to be restructured. 2. Storage reduction via combining course versions and reviews This re-coding affects the courseinfoblock sections called “reviews” and “versions”. This allows teachers to upload improvements and new additions, and combine the new courses with their older versions. This will save more than half of the storage space used by the Showcase on the MAJ server. Continuous collaborative revising of courses is part of the “content communities” envisioned by MoodleNet. 3. Moodle Upgrades and Roadmap to Moodle 4.0 As Moodle versions change, the core code and themes are changed which affects MAJ Showcase plugins installed on the site, and the courses themselves. This involves systematic testing on various browsers as well. The Showcase will need to handle new Moodle versions 3.10,3.11, 3.10, 3.11, and 4.0. Don Hinkelman is researching Open Educational Resources (OER) in the Moodle community, and Ponlawat Weerapanpisit, is a graduate student in computer engineering, who has created over five open source Moodle plugins including the award-winning MAJ Showcase (Hub) blocks. Feedback This abstract has many issues of punctuation. Maybe some of the formatting got lost when it was put in the vetting module, but it was hard to read. Also, the abstract mentions 2020 in the future tense. Do the authors mean 2021, or should the text be rewritten in the past tense for clarity? In addition, it contains the presenter names, making it no longer an anonymous vetting process. As for content, this is an important topic to be introduced to Moot participants. However, the abstract should be rewritten. Is the focus on showcasing the best open courseware, or on how to upload a course, or on the programming objectives? These are three elements that will gather an audience with different interest.

Feedback Accept with revisions. The abstract is overly detailed. MAJ states that presentation abstracts should be 150-200 words in length. This is 329. Concise abstracts help the reader effectively decide which presentations attend and I recommend this is shortened to the requested length. There are various small mistakes in the abstract that should be fixed before the abstract should be included. For example: ". . . promotion This block. . . . "
