The presenter will go through the steps needed and explain the requirements needed to have a Moodle site for 100 concurrent users up and running in less than 2 hours. The topics will also include setting up a firewall and a free SSL certificate, to help keep all data private and secure. The presentation will also show you some simple commands to help you update and maintain your VPS and Moodle site.

Feedback The content of the presentation gives the appearance of being useful for some attendees of the Moot. If the description were more clearly written it may be attended by beginning to intermediate users. However The submission content falls short of the required word count (147 out of 150-200 words), which should actually lead to disqualification. Some of the submission sounds more like sales pitch than a description of the content. The submission would benefit greatly from more concrete content and examples. As it is, the main content of this description can be boiled down almost to the last 72 words. If this is for beginning and intermediate users, readers may benefit from knowing a little more about the meanings of some of the terms used. Although customization is hinted at, is that the main benefit of having your Moodle site on a VPS? If there are others, then what? What is the point of going through the expense and effort? Those would be some of the questions an attendee may have. Additionally, the author may consider supplying printed materials to guide attendees when attempting such a project on their own.

Feedback This is exactly the type of presentation that should be offered to audiences at other academic conferences. Do it yourself Moodle installations are a valuable tool for bringing in additional users who don't have the benefit of institutional support.
