このワークショップでは、参加者が自分のMoodleサイトでMoodle文字列をカスタマイズする方法と、Moodle翻訳サイトのAMOSを使用してコアおよびプラグインの言語文字列の翻訳に貢献する方法の２つを紹介します。Moodleの基本言語は英語ですが、現在、100以上の言語パックがダウンロードおよびインストール可能です。これらのパックには、Moodleのコア機能を構成するすべての言語文字列が含まれていますが、完成度は様々なものが存在します。AMOS翻訳サイトにアカウントを作成することで、誰でも言語パックの翻訳に貢献することができます。コアコードに加えて、Moodle プラグインディレクトリにリストされているほぼすべてのプラグインも、AMOSで翻訳する準備が整っています。日本語のMoodleコアはほぼ完成していますが、いくつかのプラグインは部分的または全体的に未翻訳のままです。そして、日本のMoodle管理者の中には、完全に翻訳されていないプラグインをインストールしない人もいるため、これらのプラグインの日本語化は急務となっています。Moodle管理者は、まず自分のサイトの言語設定をカスタマイズし、その結果をAMOSにアップロードすることができます。また、アカウントを持っている人なら誰でも、Moodle AMOS翻訳サイトに直接翻訳案をアップロードすることができます。このワークショップでは、これらのプロセスを実演した後、参加者を募って実際に未翻訳のプラグインを英語から日本語に翻訳する作業を共同で行います。このように、参加者はMoodleを「自分たちの望む言語で話す」ことを実際に体験することができます。

This workshop will show participants how to personalize Moodle language strings on their own Moodle sites, and contribute to the translation of core and plugin language strings by using AMOS on the Moodle translation site. The base language of Moodle is English but currently, there are more than 100 language packs available for download and installation. These packs contain all the language strings that comprise Moodle core features, but they exist in varying degrees of completion. By making an account on the AMOS translation site, anyone can contribute to the translation of a language pack. In addition to core code, almost all of the plugins listed in the Moodle Plugins directory are also ready for translation in AMOS. While Moodle core in Japanese is mostly complete, some plugins remain partially or entirely untranslated. And, because some Moodle administrators in Japan will not install any plugins that are not wholly translated, there is some urgency in getting these plugins into Japanese. Moodle administrators can customize language settings on their own sites first and then upload the results to AMOS, or anyone with an account may stage proposed translations directly on the Moodle AMOS translation site. This workshop will demonstrate these processes, then invite participants to collaborate on the actual translation from English to Japanese of an untranslated plugin. Participants will thus gain hands-on experience at making Moodle “speak the language they want”.

Feedback Hi Martin, kinda happy I got to review this one (as a 1st-day workshop I know it passes. . . ). As you mentioned on Telegram, I would like to see this abstract bilingual (with the Japanese appearing first) as this is more relevant to the Japanese audience.
