Moodleはその利用を通じて、多種多様な学習履歴を保存していくことが可能です。しかし、これらのデータはデータベース上に保存されてこそいるものの、学習分析や教学IR（Institutional Research）といった活動に使うにあたっては困難が生じることもあります。例えば複数のコースをまたいだ横串での学習履歴の分析を行うためには、標準機能だけでは困難であり、データを1度CSV等でダウンロードしてから解析する、などの対応が必要になります。また、このようにデータをダウンロードして専用アプリで解析するのは手間であり、一般ユーザ（教育者・学習者）の利用には不便なものとなってしまいます。加えて、情報によっては通常の「ログ」だけでは十分な記録が残されていないケースなども存在します。

このような状況を改善するために、過去のMootでも簡易的なプラグイン開発を通じたデータの収集や通知機能の改善に取り組んできました。今回の発表では、これらの紹介と合わせ、2026年度に手を加えたプラグインの紹介などを行います。プラグインを導入する、という障壁は残ってしまいますが、Moodle上での学習分析やデータの可視化を進めるための方策について、みなさんと意見交換できれば幸いです。

講師紹介

自治医科大学　医学教育センター　准教授。

自治医科大学 メディカルシミュレーションセンター 助教、同 情報センター講師を経て現在に至る。シミュレーションセンター在籍時より、学内・院内の種々のシミュレーションに関する設計・運用の支援を行っている。このほか、LMS（Moodle等）の管理運営および教学IR（Institutional Research）を担当してきた。医学教育センター異動後は特にMoodleの管理運営や学習支援と合わせ、各種データに基づく教育評価、ICTを活用した教育の設計・改善の検証などを進めている。また、生成AIの医学教育における導入・運用のための指針・ルール作り等にも関与している。

Moodle Educator Certification（現 Moodle Educator Qualification）取得。eラーニングプロフェッショナル シニア資格（マネージャー、エキスパート、ラーニングデザイナー、コンテンツクリエイター）取得。

日本ムードル協会副会長、医療系eラーニング全国交流会副会長、学習分析学会副理事長、日本医学教育学会理事、日本シミュレーション医療教育学会理事。

Presentation Description

Artificial intelligence is one of the most talked-about developments in higher education, but how does it actually work within Moodle? This session shares lessons learned from an instructional design team that has been testing AI tools and integrations in real Moodle courses.
We will provide an overview of the testing process, including the types of AI tools evaluated, the methods used to assess their effectiveness, and the challenges encountered along the way. The session highlights both the potential benefits of AI—such as streamlining content development and supporting personalized learning—and its shortcomings, particularly around accessibility, transparency, and academic integrity.
Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of the current landscape of AI in Moodle; what it can realistically achieve, where it falls short, and how to make informed decisions about using it in their own teaching. Rather than focusing on hype, this session emphasizes practical insights and evidence-based reflections that educators can immediately apply when considering AI integration in their courses.

About the Presenter

Chad is the Senior Instructional Designer at Oakland University as well as a Moodle trainer and H5P Ambassador. He has experience working in secondary and higher education as a language teacher since 2014 and as an instructional designer and e-learning specialist since 2020. He holds a Master’s degree in German studies and TESOL from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Arts in German studies and classical guitar performance from Albion College.
