The Moodle Association of Japan is now open to receive formal funding applications for domestic Moodle development projects.

9月1日から、MAJ役員で構成される審査委員会が開発提案を評価し、MAJ会員と日本のMoodleユーザーに利益をもたらすプロジェクトに限定された資金を配分します。研究開発プロジェクトの資金配分結果は8月14日に発表されます。
MAJのメンバーは、プラグインの開発プロジェクトにテストとフィードバックを通じて参加することを招待されています。

The application period will be open until Sunday night, August 31. Closing time will be 11:55pm (no extensions). If you have filled out the pre-application statement of interest, please go to this link and fill in the additional questions.
From September 1st, a review committee of MAJ officers will assess the development proposals and allocate limited funds to projects which benefit MAJ members and Moodle users in Japan. Announcement of the R&D project funding will be on August 14th.
MAJ members are invited to participate in the plugin development projects by testing and feedback.

2025年度国内Moodle研究開発プロジェクトに関する導入ガイド：Introductory Guidance for the 2025 Domestic Moodle R&D Projects:
毎年、日本ムードル協会は、日本の学校におけるニーズに対応したオープンソースのムードルLMSプラグインの開発を支援しています。協会の研究開発（R&D）調査「開発ニーズ調査」は、MAJ会員にとって最も優先度の高いプロジェクトを明らかにしています。
このプラグイン開発の財源は、MAJの会費によって成り立っています。したがって、このプロジェクトの資金はプラグインのプログラミング、テスト、ドキュメント作成などに利用されるものであり、個人的な研究費（旅費、事務費、機器費、その他一般的な研究費）としての利用はできません。
プロジェクトの助成金額は、1件あたり5万円から40万円の間となります。1会員につき1件の申請を受け付けます。申請の数や内容によっては、一部のみの支援となる場合があります。申請書には、予算を段階別・項目別に詳細に明記してください。これは、選考委員会が適切な優先順位付けを行った配分を行うために必要です。
この助成の基本要件は以下の2点です：
1. Moodle LMSの機能を改善すること
2. 日本のMoodleユーザーの中でも、まずMAJ会員にとって有益であること、次いで広く日本国内のユーザーに役立つこと
申請内容を強化する要素として、以下のような点が挙げられます：
• プラグインが、Moodle R&D調査結果などに基づき、MAJ会員からの優先ニーズに沿っていること
• 国内の多くのMoodleユーザーに利用可能な汎用性があること
• Moodle Plugins データベースでオープンソースとして公開されること
• プラグインはできるだけ簡単にインストールできるように設計されており、日本語のインストールマニュアルが同梱されること
• プラグイン開発には、MAJ会員がテストとフィードバックを提供すること
申請フォームの各質問に対して、上記の要素に関する具体的な詳細をできるだけご記入ください。
なお、2025年には、1件あたり5万円〜40万円、全ての採択プロジェクトの合計で80万円を上限とした助成が可能です。大規模な開発等を検討される場合は、科研費や大学内での研究費など、他の財源の活用も積極的にご検討ください。
Each year, the Moodle Association of Japan supports members to develop open source Moodle LMS plugins, targeting the needs of schools in Japan. The association's R&D Survey of Development Needs indicates the highest priority projects for MAJ members.
The funding for this plugin development comes from MAJ membership fees. Therefore, this project funding is intended for use in plugin programming, testing, and documentation creation, and cannot be used for personal research expenses (travel expenses, administrative expenses, equipment expenses, or other general research expenses).
Project amounts per application would be between 50,000 and 400,000 yen. One application per member can be accepted. Depending on the number and content of applications, only partial support may be provided. Please provide a detailed breakdown of the budget by stage and item in the application form. This is necessary for the selection committee to make appropriate and prioritized allocations.
The two basic requirements for this grant are as follows:
1. Improving the functionality of the Moodle LMS
2. Being beneficial to MAJ members first, and then to a wider range of users in Japan
The following points are examples of factors that strengthen the application:
• The plugin is based on Moodle R&D research surveys/results and aligns with the priority needs of MAJ members
• The plugin is versatile and can be used by many Moodle users in Japan
• The plugin is or will be published as open source in the Moodle Plugins database
• The plugin is designed to be as easy to install as possible, and will come with a Japanese language installation manual.
• The plugin development involves MAJ members for testing and feedback.
Please provide specific explanations for the above elements in response to questions in the application form whenever possible.
Note that in 2025, grants of up to 50,000 yen to 400,000 yen per project, with a total of 800,000 yen for all selected projects, will be available. If you are considering large-scale development, please actively explore other funding sources such as national research grants or university research funds.
